Encore Update
Earlier this month, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh began
piloting Encore as the default catalog interface. Since its
release we have received several questions about the pilot and its
restrictions. While Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh successfully
negotiated for the inclusion of the county wide catalog, the licensing
agreement with Innovative/Encore is for CLP only. This agreement
prohibits CLP from promoting Encore outside the CLP Web site. Any request
for additional organizational logos on the Encore page would be viewed
as a violation of the licensing agreement.
Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh is piloting Encore in order to help
choose a catalog interface that will benefit all libraries in
Allegheny County. The feedback CLP receives will be reviewed by a
subcommittee of the eiNetwork Technology Group. The subcommittee
will evaluate Encore and other interfaces to find a Catalog Front End
for all libraries in Allegheny County.

Shipping Update
The new sorting equipment at the
Library Support Center is now up and running. Once backlogged
items have been handled, the staff will begin moving holds
through the system. The re-positional labels (yellow stickies)
that are barcoded can be read by the system. Items that are
yellow banded are more problematic because the yellow band may cover
the barcode. Moving to a bookmark type holds identifier may be
the solution. More information will be forthcoming. To
continue the article please click here.
On January 12, the
Interlibrary Loan staff moved from CLP-Main to the Library Support
Center. Laura Perrier, Manager, Interlibrary Loan, is available by email or
telephone at 412.920.4536. Her staff can be reached at
412.920.4535.
Please
call 412.920.4520 or email Tina LaMark if
you have any questions or concerns about the move.
Tina would
also appreciate any feedback on how ILL's use of ILLiad software has
impacted libraries and/or library customers.
